It’s happening again: Meet Jobzella Fifth Career Fair

Many employees believe that the performance appraisal is the personal view of their managers. But this is not accurately right!

Performance appraisal is actually a chance for an in depth discussion about your work and how you are progressing, and a career capitalizing on this opportunity requires advanced plan.
Accordingly here are some tips on making the most of your next appraisal.

Tip #1 – Evaluate the past year
an annual review is taking a look back at the previous year, so you need to consider all the achievements, problems, and challenges that occurred during the last 12 months.

We naturally tend to interpret circumstances in our favor, so try to be objective. Questioning obvious problems will just make you appear in denial.

Also avoid nasty surprises during your performance review by seeking feedback all year long; it’s better to often schedule a few minutes to have a chat with your boss regarding your performance. You can also send him/ her a report enquiring if you are heading towards the right direction.

Tip #2 – Prove you worth!

Before hearing your boss’ evaluation, arrange a summary of all accomplishments you have made during the past year, you will need it for self-evaluation as well. They are concrete examples of the efforts you have exerted throughout the year.

Tip #3 – Embrace criticism and use it for improvement

Open your mind to criticism. Don’t be defensive; don’t dismiss it out of hands! Use it to improve instead and show that you are open to criticism.

Tip #4 – Point out your Strength!
Be prepared to prove that you have worked on your weak traits that were brought to your attention during the last performance review. Provide some examples on how you have successfully achieved it.

Remember to have a plan for the future!

Performance appraisal is a great chance to enhance your role in the company. Prepare goals you would like to achieve and skills you would like to improve in the future.
Don’t be stressed because you have your Performance Evaluation coming up, these tips will help you to manage it all!
