Why should you work at a Start-up at least once in your life?

There’s a belief in business world that when you choose a job, you should think big. But when it comes to your career, have you considered thinking small for once. Indeed, a Job at a corporate firm would be more familiar; it is all about building a good relationship with the management, meeting deadlines and go home, that would be all. But, our advice is whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and change. And joining a start-up is like a roller-coaster ride that can offer you an incredible career experiences and teach you some valuable life lessons. Start-ups can make you more efficient than you’ve ever been, and they can help you expand your responsibility and knowledge and learn how any business, despite challenges, can effectively get off the ground. The following are some reasons in which you should work at a Start-Up at least once in your life:

Reason 1: It’s your company: When you are with a company right from its scratch, you feel more at home. The company, the projects, the success, all become your own, rather than the company owner’s. Because you are a single digit team, you are important to the company and the company is important to you. You tend to lose yourself as your work might fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Reason 2: You trust the management: Yes, for the first time, I trust the management. Entrepreneurs are different, they are the true innovators. They approach problems differently and hence, they are the best people to learn from. For sure, they challenge you, to be multi-tasking, push working hours, to go that extra mile. But when you get appreciated for that, that’s when a difference occurs.

Reason 3: Amazing work atmosphere: Imagine your office is your working station, your meeting room, your eating place and your sleeping place too, sometimes. You will definitely get passionate about work. Everyone else who works at a Start-Up usually have the same belief and enthusiasm for work as you will do. You share experiences, learn and innovate at the same time. Fewer rules; more work; everything that you have been longing for.

Reason 4: Every project is the last on the industry planet: When you work at a Start-Up, you need to convince that one person to win that one project; you need to have that one client. And when you win that one project, you need to deliver it. Every project becomes so important, and that one recommendation from the client will make your day.

Reason 5: the real test: Selling is hard. But it is easier when your brand is well-known. But what if nobody knows your brand? you have team experience but no company experience? That’s the real test of your selling capabilities. I believe that if you have the best reliable team and if you truly believe in their capabilities, nothing can stop you and your start-up. Working at/for/ a start-up doesn’t only mean that you and your small team are the only people responsible for the success; it also means that you are responsible for the failures. For sure, you can have the privilege of working at the start-up but that does come with a huge responsibility.

Reason 6: You are doing a real work: Everything you do in a start-up makes a difference, everything you do will contribute to the ultimate success or failure of the business. Start-ups actually push you to identify and focus on what’s absolutely critical, forcing you to think more about how you approach projects and create value. And most of all, you’ll often get to see results at first-hand and share in the rewards and glory.

Reason 7: Learning and Responsibility: you will learn more in your first two months in a start-up than you will do in five years of your professional career. The reason for this is that everyone in a start-up is expected to wear multiple hats. A start-up forces you to adopt new skills and responsibilities. In start-ups, fast learning can also lead to an increased responsibility and multiple opportunities to both utilize and accelerate talents and knowledge. All of this can result in a powerful position in the business world, and also you’ll have much more to offer as an individual, particularly when it’s time to move on or even start your own business.

Reason 8: Shape the Culture Around You: One of the aspects that you will enjoy is that you will build a culture where talented people come together and make it fun, where work doesn’t feel like actually work. There’s nothing more rewarding than feeling excited to come into the office in the morning to tackle the next challenge the world has thrown at the team. you get to shape the culture around you, create your own practices, customs and values, you directly contribute to the creation and growth of the business philosophy.

Reason 9: An Environment of Innovation: One of the most rewarding things about start-ups is that you can find yourself working with a team that is highly passionate and enthusiastic. This can spark inspiration on every level, leading to truly innovative ideas and developments that can help the business stand out against competitors in the greater industry. Being part of an entrepreneurial team is also a wonderful way to learn how to innovate.

Reason 10: Starting Your Own Venture: Joining a start-up gives you the opportunity to start learning what it takes to be your own boss. While they take personal and financial sacrifice, start-ups pay you back in opportunities and knowledge on how to take charge of your own venture. If you’re thinking of the idea of one day being your own boss, working in a start-up is the ideal place to educate yourself on how to set goals, execute strategies, take your product to market and implement strong business operations. You can also be required to take on other, more administrative business tasks, which can actually equip you with great business know-how. You learn that there are lots of details in any enterprise, You might have to name the company, design a logo, find office space, figure out the legal entity, find an insurance carrier and all the thousands of essential activities that one takes for granted in a larger company.

For few people, that may set off a response to stay in a corner and hope some corporate comes and adopts them with fat paychecks. For others, it’s the greatest motivation ever. No matter where you go, after giving your contribution to that start-up, the skills you picked up to make that contribution will be of an add value to everything you do. And believe me, it is worth giving a shot!
