Report: Egypt Heading to Lead Global Outsourcing Industry

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, reviewed a report on “Outsourcing in Egypt,” prepared by Dr. Osama El-Gohary, Head of the Information and Decision Support Center. 

The report highlights that Egypt is one of the top destinations for providing outsourcing and cross-border IT services. It successfully attracts many global companies to establish branches here. This is thanks to its skilled young workforce, supportive infrastructure, and competitive advantages.

The report also mentioned the launch of the “Egypt Outsourcing Destination Guide” in collaboration with the “German Outsourcing Association,” which showcases Egypt’s competitive advantages and capabilities in this field.

Egypt’s Legal Framework for Outsourcing

The report explains that Egypt has set up clear laws and rules to make a good environment for outsourcing. This is to protect companies that provide services and their clients. Egypt has also taken steps to support the IT industry and make procedures easier. These steps include laws like the Intellectual Property Law, the Telecommunications Regulation Law, and the Personal Data Protection Law.

The report notes that Egypt is set to become the next major commercial hub and a global center for outsourcing services. This is through its digital strategy for the outsourcing industry (2022-2026). The strategy aims to attract major global companies and grow Egypt’s digital exports. It also aims to provide job opportunities for youth in the digital economy. Key goals of the strategy include:

Additionally, the report highlights that the value of Egypt’s digital exports reached $6.2 billion in the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $4.9 billion in the fiscal year 2021/2022, an increase of 26.5%.

Sector Growth

The outsourcing services sector grew by 54.2% in the fiscal year 2022/2023, with the sector’s added value reaching $3.7 billion, compared to $2.4 billion in the fiscal year 2021/2022.
