So back in March when we were all quarantined, we decided to do something fun and yet adds value to anyone who’s worklife was put on pause that taught us 5 employment issues keeping very skilled people from getting hired! Today, Ghadir, our recruitment consultant decide to pass her experience with us.

Back in Ramadan, we initiated Mockup Interviews with our hottest, most experienced recruitment consultants and HR managers to help people improve their interview skills at home. We even collected a huge number of resumes to review and gave tips and tricks to improve their CVs for better chances on landing future opportunities.

Ghadir reveals to us that a huge amount of job seekers are put in a tough situation whenever asked about their career history or decisions they took or might take in the future. Her answer and advice to all those people is that “Don’t overthink what the HR will think of you, as long as you’re polite in your speech, all answers will be valid. It’s just the interviewer’s way of getting to know you better, that’s all”

What matters the most is your technical skill, and if you lie about that and it went unnoticed in the interview, it’ll surely come up later in your job.” and we don’t want that happening, right?

Ghadir was enraged to hear those desperate words from the mouth of who used to be a very successful employee but has came to retirement age and has nothing to pack him up expect his skills and years of employment. There are so many grey collar opportunities out there and here are a few tips how to regain control of your career after retirement.

Jumpers are facing employement issues

Ok. This is a common issue I was once facing, but I knew what I was doing, I knew what I wanted and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Let’s talk more about this…

As an HR, Ghadir didn’t like the mentality of jumpers, in her opinion, you have to give yourself and your position/company time before you decide to jump to a new place. For several reasons:

  1. It makes your CV looks bad. You’re untrusted as a loyal employee who’d survive the work stresses.
  2. You didn’t give yourself space to learn and gain experience from one place, so how should we believe that your career developed over the years?
  3. It raises suspiciousness around your judgment and decision-making skills.

She thinks employees do this for the below reasons:

There’s more into it, but to cut it short, I’m, yes, “jumping” to my point of view. An employee’s point of view, why do we jump from one place to another quickly?

  1. Better opportunities/offers
  2. companies introduce themselves as somthing, turns as something else completely.
  3. Family-run businesses are the worst.
  4. Yes, management issues and differences of mentalities can make you leave your job to an even worse one.
  5. Micro-management issues
  6. Transportation issues…etc

There’s always a hidden reason to every story, but in the end, jumping isn’t the best thing to do, it affects your career. So if you’re having issues in your current job, you’re still starting your career and can’t wait to find stability (jumping wouldn’t help and you’ll regret it)

Try to wait until you finish your contract, or complete almost a year after thinking of moving to another place or consider other offers. It’s provides more stability to your resume and your life altogether.
